My Sweet Life

Yes, life is sweet when you're a French Bulldog. I spend my days being pampered by two retired people, Jack and Donna, who think I'm just the best thing ever (next to velcro shoes and elastic waistbands, that is). My days are filled with romping in the yard, chasing insects, lazy naps under the patio table, and doggie treats given lovingly just because I'm so cute! What could be better?
Donna tries to teach me "obedience" and cute little tricks, then rewards me with delightful tidbits and treats. Don't tell her, but I believe she's the one being trained. We Frenchies have our ways--I do just enough to make her think she's making progress with me and get rewarded for my hard work. Then, sadly, by the next day I seem to forget what I learned, and poor Donna has to work oh-so-diligently with me again, rewarding me with more luscious morsels. Ah, well, it's fun while it lasts, but I think she's going to catch on soon....

The Reds are Champs!

Wow-my heroes are the NL Central Division Champs! Way to go, Reds! I'm sad that we lost to Philly last night, but we'll show 'em on Friday! Last night was just a diversion to get their confidence up, then we'll deflate those pathetic egos when we WIN on Friday! Yay! I love the warm weather we're having, but I hope it doesn't get too hot to wear my new Reds jacket!

Kennel Kalamity

Last week I spent some time at the kennel, since Jack and Donna went on one of their trips. I had an awesome time playing with the other dogs all day at the Doggie Daycare. But then it happened. Somehow, I got a little cut on my face and they wouldn't let me play anymore. Boy was I sad! My mommy and daddy took me to the vet who said it had become a "hot spot", and gave me some medicine to take. My face got all better by the next day but I still have to take the pills. Donna puts them in a piece of cheese, so I really don't mind. In fact, I look forward to taking my pill every day. I hope she still gives me cheese when the pills are all gone!

Gender Identity Crisis

Can you believe this? Donna made me model this frilly little fleece coat for her etsy shop, theFabFrenchie. It is adorable, but what if Bailey, the boxer next door had seen me? I'd never hear the end of it!  Well, I guess it's better than the alternative, which would be to get a female French Bulldog to model the girly stuff. I'm not sharing my domain with another dog! Guess I'll just have to put up with modeling the girl clothes...I do look pretty cute! Don't tell anyone I said that!

My Car Seat

I know, I know, this looks ridiculous! But I do love to ride in the car and this crazy little platform lets me see out the window. Jack and Donna complained about having to buy me the harness and car seat but hey, it was their idea! They're the ones who say it will keep me safe in the car. And they know I love to watch all the exciting things that speed past my window. That's why they bought me the special car seat and harness.  But I'm glad because now I can go lots of places, and I'm really good in the car. I hope we get to go to the dog park again soon!

Life with two crazy cats

No I'm not talking about Jack and Donna--it's those two pesky felines, Tuffy and Pixie! OK, they did live here long before I came along, but geez! why can't we all be friends? Actually, Tuffy, a big old male tabby, couldn't  care less whether I'm here or not, but Pixie! that's another story!  She LOVES to hiss at me whenever she gets the chance, which is about 100 times a day!  Pixie is a tiny little bit of fluff who pretty much was the center of attention till yours truly entered the household.  Now she has to share the limelight and she doesn't like it one little bit. NO, not at all!  That's Pixie on the left and Tuffy on the right.

My New Bengal Jacket

Wow! I think I look exceedingly "fly" in my new Cincinnati Bengals hoodie! Donna whipped it up for me in anticipation of the chilly days ahead. I'll be cheering in style in my new duds! The Bengals play the Buffalo Bills tomorrow, and I'll be doing my part to support them, that's for sure!

Bathtime

Every week, Jack and Donna insist on giving me a bath. They say I STINK!  What nonsense! I simply smell like a DOG! and a darn sexy one, at that!  What do they expect me to smell like when I run and play outside, tumbling in the grass and snapping up bugs? Oh, well, it's not really so bad.  They put me in a big sink in the laundry room and use a little spray thing to wet me down. Then they lather me up with a delightful doggy shampoo that makes my already-beautiful coat shine even more. Then they rinse me off and wrap me in a towel and make all kinds of cooing, goo-goo sounds and tell me how handsome I am.  Hmmm, I think I actually like it!  Well, I've got to be on my way now--it's time for this weeks bath!
